FAQ

We have had a number of questions asked on a regular basis by parents and carers new to the school, which we have tried to answer below. Please feel free to send any feedback to the school office via email admin3068@welearn365.com and we will update our information.

What is the time of the School Day?

The children enter school between 8:45am and 8:55am. The gates and classroom doors close at 8:55am and the register is taken at 9am. The children finish school at 3:25pm.

How do I find out about school closures?

If school has to close for any reason we will try to give parents as much notice as possible. An announcement will be made on this website and via Reach More Parents.

When are SATs held in school?

These end of year assessments are completed in May in line with national guidance. Year 6 parents will have the results included in the Annual Report for their child.

What are DBS Checks?

If you volunteer your services to a member of staff, you will need to register with the office in order for us to arrange for a DBS check to be completed. The safety of our children is paramount and we thank you for your cooperation.

Can we bring dogs into school?

Other than our school dogs, Rex and Sadie, and support dogs the school is a dog free site. Please ensure all dogs are kept outside the gates and on the opposite side of the path to the school.

Do we hold open events at school?

Yes, it is your chance to come into school to have a look at what goes on throughout the school on a normal working day. Staff and governors are available to talk to. We also are happy at any time to show prospective parents and pupils around the school. Please contact the office to make an appointment.

Who are the Friends of Tysoe School?

All parents and carers are automatically ‘Friends of Tysoe School’. A committee of parents, carers and friends organises fundraising activities to raise money for the school.

Does the school hold services at St. Mary’s Church?

We have three whole school services each year at St Mary’s, these being Harvest, Christmas, and Easter. We also host the Year 6 Leavers’ Service at St Mary’s. Parents, carers and family are very welcome to attend. There is tea, coffee and cake on offer for all adults attending our services. The choir and our Collective Worship Group are also invited to attend some Sunday services such as Candlemas.

Is there a School Council?

The views of the children at Tysoe are vital and are sought on a range of issues. The School Council is a group of nominated children from across the school who take feedback from their peers and discuss school issues with staff on a regular basis to inform improvements at the school.

Can we take children on holidays in term time?

Parents do not have any entitlement to take their children on holiday during term time. Any application for leave must establish that there are exceptional circumstances and the Headteacher must be satisfied that the circumstances are exceptional and therefore warrant the granting of leave. Additional work will not be set by teachers for such absences. We are required to refer all applications for leave to Warwickshire Attendance Service.

Do you have Collective Worship?

All parents, carers and family are welcome to attend Friday worship at 9.00am. This is a celebration assembly and the hard work and efforts of each class are celebrated. Classes also take it in turns to host worship and to share their learning, with parents and carers invited to attend. We have a daily act of Collective Worship in school. Parents and carers will also be invited to share learning events with their children throughout the year where they will be able to spend time in class with their children and look through their books.

Are there any After School Clubs?

A range of clubs are available after school for children, ranging from sports, choir and gardening. A letter is sent out each term for parents to request a place. There is a small charge for these activities.

Do you offer Wraparound Care?

We offer Wraparound Care in The Hive including breakfast club and afterschool club. Breakfast Club is offered Monday to Friday 7:45am to 8:45am. After School Club is offered 3:25pm to 5:30pm Monday to Thursday and 3:25pm to 5:00pm on Friday. Please email hive3068@welearn365.com for more information or bookings.
